From Taipei to Green Island, Americans have left their architectural footsteps in Taiwan. You might be surprised that some of the important landmarks in Taiwan were actually built by Americans!
The building that houses the Taipei Film House today was built by the United States in 1926. Now a popular spot among film buffs and tourists, the building first served as the U.S. Consulate in Taipei and later as the residence of several U.S. ambassadors. The architecture itself is a two-story Western mansion with white exterior walls, in the style of colonial American south.
